Creeslough tragedy: Support line available for children and parents

Parents and children affected by the tragedy in Creeslough have been urged to seek support.

Childline has advised them to lean on services like their helpline during this heartbreaking time.

Childline tweeted, “We can help those seeking to support their children now.”

“At this challenging time for children and families after the tragic event in Creeslough, ISPCC’s Support Line is available

Parents can reach out to the support line at 01 522 4300 or parentingsupport@ispcc.ie. The support line is available from 9 am to 1 pm Monday to Friday.

Children can also contact Childline’s 24-hour support line on childline.ie. They can also text 50101 or call 1800 66 66 66.

A spokesperson told DonegalDaily;

“It may be difficult to know how to help children and young people make sense of this tragedy.

“For parents and carers, it can be hard to judge the best way to approach discussing such a shocking event and the sorrow surrounding it.

“We are here to assist parents/carers and children and young people in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

The spokesperson added that it can be incredibly overwhelming for children to process what has happened in Creeslough.

“It is very difficult for children and young people to process the scale of the tragedy at Creeslough. They will be saddened and shocked by the unimaginable loss and events of the past number of days.”

10 people tragically died in the petrol station explosion in Creeslough, Donegal on October 7th. The first of the victims’ funerals took place yesterday, October 11th.
