A critically ill baby has been rescued after being abducted from a hospital in France.

The baby, named Tizio, was undergoing emergency treatment in the Toulouse hospital when he was taken by his father and driven two hours away.

Tizio was attached to gastric and intravenous tubes due to his undisclosed condition.

The Local reports that the baby was discovered by police who recognised his father’s car.

Authorities have said that the child is “fine.”

Tizio’s 33-year-old father, Brendan, and his brother were later arrested at their home.

He and the baby’s mother are separated but thought to be on good terms as Brendan had visited Tizio in hospital regularly.

CCTV footage showed him leaving the hospital at 7.30pm on Friday evening.

Tizio was discovered missing two hours later.

Police issued an abduction alert, stating that the baby’s life was in danger due to his condition.
