Shocking scenes.

With Level 5 restrictions still in place until December 1 many are shocked and appalled by the emergence of a video of crowds gathered on Grafton Street in Dublin.

The crowd can be heard loudly singing Oasis’ Don’t Look Back in Anger while dancing and drinking on the popular Dublin shopping street.

With Christmas quickly approaching and some experts going so far to say that we should postpone Christmas and extend lockdown restrictions until January, scenes like these don’t help.

Many across Ireland have gone weeks and in some cases months without seeing family and have been looking forward to the end of lockdown and being able to gather to celebrate the season with family and friends.

Likewise many businesses which have remained shut during the lockdown are looking forward to reopening, which many not happen if the lockdown is extended.

During the first lockdown scenes that were filmed of a crowd gathered in a Temple Bar pub prompted the closure of pubs around Ireland so there is a lot of concern that scenes like the ones on Grafton Street could also have repercussions.
