“I didn’t know what to do with myself”

Danielle Lloyd said she was “devastated” when she found out she was pregnant with another boy. The mum explained that having a baby girl has always been her dream. Speaking to The Sun, she shared that she was “fixated” on having a daughter.

She was six weeks pregnant when she got a test to find out the baby’s gender. Danielle admitted her heart sank when the doctor told her it was a boy.

“I cried. I was devastated and didn’t know what to do with myself. My husband Michael was like, ‘I told you not to do that test’

“We’d said this baby would be our last, so I was thinking, ‘It isn’t going to be my last — we’re going to have to have gender selection after all’.”

Danielle was already a mum to sons Archie, Harry, George, and Ronnie when she decided to try for a baby girl.

She decided to try again and planned to have gender selection treatment in Dubai.

However, her plans came to a standstill when the pandemic happened.

She said she and her husband Jamie decided to try for a fifth child naturally. The mum used the Babydust method, where you have sex two days before ovulation because the female sperm lives longer.

Danielle said she was over the moon when she found out she was pregnant with a daughter.

“Me wanting a girl doesn’t mean I’m ungrateful”

She explained that she doesn’t let the abuse and trolling get to her. The mum explained that a lot of people called her “ungrateful” for wanting a girl, but she doesn’t agree with them.

“But me wanting a girl doesn’t mean I’m ungrateful for what I have or that I love my boys any less. So many people have messaged me to say they’ve got all the same sex and are desperate for one of the other, but are too scared to admit it.”

“When a man is having a baby for the first time, it’s OK for him to say he wants a son. But when it’s a woman saying she wants particular sex, that’s deemed to be bad.”

Danielle welcomed her daughter Autumn in November 2020.
