Heartbroken father of 19-year-old Daragh Lee pens moving tribute

Daragh Lee died in a tragic road accident.

The father of 19-year-old Daragh Lee has penned a heartbreaking tribute after his son’s death.

Daragh was killed in a tragic road accident in Laois on Saturday, November 20th.

The teenager was hit by a van along the N80 at Clonsoghey shortly after 7.30 am.

The driver of the van was uninjured.

He was rushed to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise but later died from his injuries.

His father wrote online: “Early this morning my world changed forever, my son, Daragh, 19yo, was tragically taken from us.”

“He lit up a room with his smile and I could not have been prouder of him. Taken from me but never forgotten.”

CLG Laois paid tribute to Daragh, “Laois GAA extends the deepest sympathy to Mark Lee and his family in Mountmellick on the passing of his son Daragh in an accident. Mark is the caretaker of Mountmellick GAA and recently helped out with work in MW Hire O’Moore Park. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Mountmellick Utd FC held a minute silence in honor of Daragh before their senior game on Sunday morning.

Daragh is survived by his loving parents Mark and Tracy and sisters, Shauna and Lauren, grandparents Carmel and Pat, and his nephew, Callum.

His extended family and loved ones are devastated by his untimely passing.

The family has asked for donations to be made to www.jigsaw.ie.

Following the harrowing accident, Gardaí stated: “Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly appealing to any road users who were travelling on this road at the time with camera footage to make this available to them.”
