I carried a watermelon: Dirty Dancing is returning to the big screen
I carried a watermelon.
Dirty Dancing is returning to Irish cinemas!
The hit 80s rom-com will be screened in Odeon cinemas this September.
If you fancy seeing Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey grace the big screen then read on.
Odeon Cinemas and Pigsback.com are screening Dirty Dancing on Wednesday, September 14th at 6.30pm.
The screening costs €15, which includes your ticket, popcorn and a drink.
Fans will be able to relive the classic performances from Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey at participating Odeon Cinemas, including, Point Square, Stillorgan, Blanchardstown, Coolock, Charlestown, Naas, Newbridge, Castletroy, Cavan, Portlaoise, and Waterford.
The rom-com was expected to be a flop when it was released in 1987, but Dirty Dancing became one of the highest-grossing films of the year, turning Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey into household names.
The late, great Patrick Swayze once said about the film, “It’s got so much heart, to me. It’s not about the sensuality; it’s really about people trying to find themselves.
"This young dance instructor feeling like he’s nothing but a product, and this young girl trying to find out who she is in a society of restrictions when she has such an amazing take on things.
"On a certain level, it’s really about the fabulous, funky little Jewish girl getting the guy because of what she’s got in her heart.”
You can get tickets here.
The screening is exclusively for Pigsback members.
