The entire show is based on the life of four teenage friends, Andi, Cyrus, Buffy and Jonah.

In it’s new series, characters Andi and Cyrus are to admit they’re both attracted to the same boy at school – Andi being a teenage girl and Cyrus being a teenage boy. Viewers will see their favourite characters learn more about themselves while getting through those not so easy-peasy years of becoming a teenager.

The show’s creator Terry Minksy said that her crew has taken “great care in ensuring that it’s appropriate for all audiences” too.

Currently the average age of kids watching the show is 10 and to ensure the storyline was written in the best possible way, Disney teamed up with child development experts, Common Sense Media and PFLAG – the largest LGBTQ organisation in the US.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, PFLAG executive director Dr Jaime M Grant said;

“Sharing one’s innermost self can be challenging, and to do so as an adolescent can be particularly so, especially when in the midst of figuring it out for yourself… Andi Macks’s creative team captures this moment of revelation with such thought, care and authenticity; it will be a memory moment for some, and a teachable moment for many.”
