Get ready, Wildcats.

Disney has announced the first details about its upcoming streaming service – and it involves a High School Musical and Monsters Inc. TV series.

Yes, you read that right.

Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger confirmed the news earlier this week, according to Variety, as he also announced the entertainment giant was working on a TV spin-off for Star Wars and its Marvel films.

The news was revealed during the company’s quarterly earnings call, where he also said that they would be producing between four to five original movies a year exclusively for the service.

The entertainment company’s as-yet-untitled streaming platform is expecting to launch at some point in 2019, with all Disney and Pixar films from that year onwards appearing on the service.

And Iger confirmed that the platform won’t have traditional advertising, and that the pricing will be “substantially below” Netflix’s.

He said:

“The price will reflect that.

“Our goal is to attract as many subs as possible starting out.”

He also announced that director Rian Johnson would be helming a new Star Wars trilogy, and that the company would be developing a live action TV series about the sci-fi franchise.

On the announcement, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said:

“We all loved working with Rian on ‘The Last Jedi.’

“He’s a creative force, and watching him craft ‘The Last Jedi’ from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career.

“Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”
