The theme park will open with a number of safety measures in place.

After a seven month-long closure, Disneyland Paris is set to open its doors on 17 June.

The reopening corresponds with France’s larger easing of Covid-19 restrictions.

The hugely popular theme park, which employs over 17,000 people, spent most of the past year closed.

Disneyland Paris closed initially in March 2020 and subsequently reopened in July. It closed its doors again at the end of October.

Since then, the park has planned to reopen twice, but couldn’t due to rising cases and restrictions in France.

This morning, Disneyland Paris announced that they would be opening Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney’s Newport Bay Club and Disney Village with enhanced safety measures in place.

There will be a limited number of entrances to the park each day in order to comply with the recommended Covid-19 health and safety measures.

Physical distancing will be implemented throughout all areas of the parks. On top of that, every visitor over the age of six must wear a mask during their time at Disneyland. Staff members will also be wearing masks.

Disneyland Paris has also installed over 2,000 hand-washing stations throughout the resort, and they’ve implemented enhanced cleaning procedures as well.

Today saw a number of restrictions ease across Ireland, including the reopening of non-essential retail, but the return of international travel ma be some time away.

The Tánaiste, Leo Varadkar has said that international travel may be permitted by “August, at the earliest”.

“A lot can go wrong between now and then,” Varadkar said at a press conference. “A lot can go right too. The law at the moment is that it is against the law to leave Ireland for non-essential reasons.”
