Distraught, grief-stricken parents commit suicide

Sive O'Brien

We like to share a little positivity around here; we do, but this story has just stuck with us all morning. It really shows the utter devastation of losing a child – it is every parent’s absolute worst nightmare. Sadly, this couple decided to end their lives when their son passed, leaving a 13-page letter.

According to Metro, Romania couple, Nicu Arava and his wife Vangheli, both 46, took their own lives after their nine-year-old son was taken from them by a devastating brain tumour.

Neighbours found the three family members at their apartment in Constanta, Romania, where it appears both parents very sadly, hanged themselves.

The mother, Vangheli lay with her son under a blanket, while the father was found in the kitchen. It’s just heart-breaking.

Vangheli had written on a blog documenting the diagnosis, “I can’t express the pain that two parents feel when finding such terrible news about their child. He was only two years old.”

The last words on her blog were: “Our only hope that Cristian is a lucky child and the tumour will stop growing is now shattered. The thought that every moment could be fatal, it drives me crazy.”

May they all rest in peace, our hearts go out to them all and their families. We’ve run out of tissues after writing this story…
