Does This Babygro Slogan Seem Wildly Inappropriate?

Babygros sporting a controversial slogan have attracted criticism this week.

The outfit, for sale on online retailer Look Human, bears the slogan “If you wanna be my lover you’ve got to get my consent”, and has stirred up an angry response.

The message also comes emblazoned on adult clothing such as t-shirts and hoodies.

One journalist at Mic.com, Rachel Lubitz, claims that the onesie is tantamount to using “your child as a billboard for paedophilia.”

However, the furore seems to be slightly disproportionate as a Look Human representative explained to HuffUK that the design in question was not created to be manufactured on children’s clothing.

“We have not sold any baby onesies with these inappropriate designs printed on them, and we are not seeking to promote designs concerning sexuality onto a baby onesie,” said the company.

The representative explained that the company’s service allows customers to apply the selection of designs to any garments they choose.

“Our products are printed on demand and therefore our site is setup so a customer can select any design to be printed on any product style we offer.”

“An unfortunate side effect of this is that some inappropriate combinations can be selected. We would hope parents would not purchase these designs for their child, but we understand how this can be taken the wrong way.”

“We are hoping to design our website to eliminate confusion and we will certainly take this into account going forward.”
