A dog has died of an apparent “broken heart” after being abandoned at an airport.
The pup, who became known as Nube Viajera (travelling cloud) to locals, was abandoned at Bucaramanga airport in Colombia for over four weeks.
Local news site Noticias RCN reports that people tried to feed the dog, but she eventually stopped eating because she was depressed.
They said she died of “pure sadness.”
A vet told the organisation that the dog did not appear to be a stray and that they believed she had been left at the airport because the owner went “far away.”
“The dog showed a detriment in a matter of 48 hours, even though we gave her food and medicine via intravenous injection, she fell into sadness and depression and did not survive.”
