Another child is in a serious condition in hospital after the Donegal road accident
Gardaí have launched an investigation following a tragic road accident in Co. Donegal on Wednesday, July 2nd.
The collision occurred on the R240 at Carrowmore, Glentogher, Carndonagh, Co. Donegal
Shortly before 6. 30pm yesterday evening, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a road traffic collision involving a car and a van on the R240.
Gardaí have confirmed that a female child was fatally injured in the collision.
A female driver (age unknown) of the car, a male front seat passenger (age unknown), and a female child who was a rear passenger were all removed from the scene to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
Gardaí have confirmed they are all in a serious condition.
No other injuries have been reported following the Donegal road accident.
Gardaí stated:
“The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place. The road will remain closed overnight.”
They are urging witnesses to come forward following this tragedy.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6 pm and 6.30 pm this evening, Wednesday 2nd July, 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
