Dublin business donates its car park to Crumlin hospital amid COVID-19 outbreak

A wonderful gesture.

Living beside Crumlin Children’s Hospital I’ve seen myself how little parking there is available for staff members and patients.

Many residents around the Crumlin and Drimnagh area offer up their own driveways regularly to that those attending or working in the hospital don’t have to park somewhere where they may be clamped.

Yesterday a local Crumlin businesses decided to help out even further by offering up their entire parking lot to Crumlin Children’s Hospital amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Jack Pott’s Bingo in Crumlin like many businesses across the country, closed due to the new restrictions brought in by the government last week to help stop the spread of coronavirus in Ireland.

Due to the closure the business no longer requires the use of it’s car park at the moment and in an act of kindness has donated it to the staff at the children’s hospital;

“While our Crumlin club is sadly closed for bingo, we will be opening up the car park for the exclusive parking of the amazing staff at CHI Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

We ask that our customers and friends please respect this and do not use the car park.

The resources and facilitates of CHI are under immense pressure and they need all the support that they can get during this difficult time. Stay safe & well everyone.”

Unfortunately I’ve heard many stories of nurses coming off long shifts at the hospital only to find their cars clamped, so I’ve no doubt that the staff at the hospital will really appreciate this.

The owners of the bingo hall have kindly asked that those in the area to respect that the car park is for hospital staff only and do not park there.

Many in the Crumlin area have praised the business for their heartfelt contribution to the hospital, helping staff, already under immense pressure, a little bit of added support.
