Dublin homeless executive wants you to alert them of rough sleepers during Storm Emma

Denise Curtin

See anyone sleeping rough in Dublin?

Last night, the Dublin homeless executive said they received an “incredible response” from the public, alerting them on people they saw sleeping rough around the capital.

According to TheJournal.ie, they received over 220 alerts from people, having spotted rough sleepers in and around Dublin and some from outside the city too.

The Dublin homeless executive said they are “extremely grateful” for people alerting the service and said that by doing so you helped them “engage with people sleeping rough and work with them to access shelter and more importantly the teams have been able to engage with people who would not normally come into services.”

The service also asked that today and for the rest of the week while a status red weather warning remains in place, you are extra vigilant and report any sighting of homeless people directly to them.

The said: “We are asking the public to continue to use this invaluable link to help us get people into shelter during this extreme weather. Since we have implemented our contingency plans anyone that looked for emergency shelter has been accommodated.”

By following this link, you will be asked the street address, the area and any location details of the person you spotted. It takes only two minutes and could potentially save a life.
