This is every parent’s worst nightmare

A Dublin mum has issued a warning to parents after a man tried to grab her son outside his school.

The terrified mum experienced every parent’s worst nightmare last week.

She said the incident happened outside her son’s school in Swords on Friday afternoon.

She told DublinLive that a man approached her child and grabbed his arm. Luckily, her son broke free and ran to his mother who was a short distance away.

The incident occurred just outside St. Cronan’s Junior National Catholic School.

“I walked around by the church and turned up towards the senior school when my son grabbed me to say he saw the man.”

The mum told her son to go wait in the school and she confronted the man.

“He swerved away from me and approached another older man who was out walking, holding his hand out as if he knew him,” she shared.

“I approached them both and asked the older man if he knew him, which he didn’t. I asked the guy who approached my son what he was doing there and why he approached my son.”

The mum phoned the Gardaí in front of the man and she said he went “quite pale”.

He started to run away and she managed to follow him, but later lost track.

“I honestly have never seen [my son] so frightened in my life,” she admitted.

What happened to her son is completely terrifying. We often think school is the safest place for our kids, but knowing there are people hanging around who pose a threat to our children is utterly horrifying.
