Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement announcement dominated headlines yesterday and a mention of the royal wedding made it onto Eastenders. Viewers were amazed at the fact that the show's producers managed to edit last night's episode in time to feature the news. A number of people took to Twitter to comment on the fact and most people seemed impressed at the last-minute addition. The one-liner featured in a scene between Shakil Kazemi and Kathy Beale with Kathy questioning exactly what had Shakil so engrossed in his phone.

Shakil's answer "just some prince bloke marrying some actress" was one way of describing the much-awaited royal engagement news. Fans of the show were not expecting to see or hear any mention of the wedding of 2018 and they expressed their surprise on social media.
