"I felt like I was drowning"

Ed Sheeran has revealed his wife Cherry Seaborn had an inoperable tumour during her second pregnancy. The singer opened up about the difficult time in his life when discussing his new album Subtract. He explained that writing is a form of therapy for him, but it really helped him when Cherry was told she had a tumour. He wrote on Instagram; "At the start of 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art. "Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth. "My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly, and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter. "I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety. The singer continued, "I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air." Ed Sheeran has been working on his album Subtract for over a decade. He said writing songs helps him make sense of his feeling during difficult times. Sheeran's new album is like "opening the trapdoor into my soul". Cherry and the Shape of You singer share two children. They have two daughters named Lyra and Jupiter.
