Safe to say this wasn’t on our baby names list.
Elon Musk and Grimes have welcomed their second child together.
The couple has confirmed the birth of their baby girl.
It is believed their daughter was born via surrogacy.
And just like her brother, she has quite a unique moniker.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Grimes revealed their daughter was born in December.
She is called Exa Dark Sideræl, but the parents will call her ‘Y’ for short.
Their son is called X Æ A-12, but the parents call him ‘X’ for short.
The singer explained the meaning behind her daughter’s name to the publication.

“Exa is a reference to the supercomputing term exaFLOPS (the ability to perform 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second).
“Dark is ‘the unknown. People fear it but truly it’s the absence of photons. Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe’.”
“Sideræl—“sigh-deer-ee-el” is “a more elven” spelling of sidereal. It means the true time of the universe, star time, deep space-time, not our relative earth time.”
The mum-of-two added that it’s also a nod to her favorite Lord of the Rings character, Galadriel.
Her children’s names are pretty out there, but Grimes said she is prepared for them to change in the future.
She said she will support her daughter if she ever chooses to change her name.
Grimes even has plenty of ideas and revealed the other name she had in mind for her baby girl.

Grimes and Musk were together for three years before their split in 2021. However, the couple are back together, but the singer said their relationship is different.
“I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid.
She explained that they live in separate houses, but they are best friends and they see each other all the time.
“We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.”
