Emmerdale viewers heartbroken after fan favourite gets hit by a car

Oh no!

What a cliffhanger.

Emmerdale fans were heartbroken tonight after Robert Sudden confessed his feeling for his ex Aaron Dingle – only to be seemingly be hit by a car.

After a difficult time as of late, Robert drowned his sorrows at The Woolpack and belted out Christmas songs.

But the holiday mood took a more emotional turn when Robert demanded to give a gift to his ex…in the presence of his new beau, Dr Alex Mason.

Robert pleaded with him:

“We’re meant to be together, Ron. What’s a better present than that?”

Hoping to avoid trouble ahead of the holidays, Chas Dingle asked him to leave the pub, and Robert replied:

“Merry Christmas. The lot of ya.”

He was last seen distraught as he staggered through the dark, clutching a bottle of whiskey.

But fans were left stunned in the final minutes of the episode, when a car appeared to crash into the equally-as-startled Robert.

Viewers took to social media in droves after the episode, with some even speculating as to who could have been behind the wheel.

It looks like viewers will have to wait until Monday to find out Robert’s fate.

The one hour Christmas special will see him wake up in a number of different scenarios, leaving him questioning what is and isn’t real.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the episode, Moira decided to risk everything to visit her son Adam behind bars.

Cain was worried over her plan – especially considering Adam is taking the rap for her after she killed Emma – but she went ahead anyways.
