Sixty per cent of girls say that the female emojis that are available are too limiting and not representative of them.

The Always Confidence & Puberty Survey also found that 70 per cent of girls would like to see more progressive female emojis including professional and sports options.

And they’re not the only brand who want more realistic emoji options. Bodyform have launched six symbols to encourage a more open discussion about periods.

They include a sanitary pad, a picture to convey a bloated feeling and a hot water bottler for cramps.
