*Warning* Article mentions baby loss and miscarriage
Rugby player Andrew Porter and his wife Elaine have confirmed they sadly suffered a miscarriage.
Elaine shared the harrowing personal news on Instagram this week after responding to JD Vance's controversial comments about women who do not have children.
In 2019, Vance made a harsh remark about ‘childless cat ladies’ when discussing Kamala Harris.
“We’re effectively run in this country, via the Democrats, and via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies, who are miserable about their own lives and the choices that they’ve made,” he told Tucker Carlson at the time.
Speaking out about the harrowing comments, Elaine they hurt a lot because she lost her baby.
"As someone who has experienced a miscarriage this is absolutely disgusting.
"Women are SO much more than their ability to give birth. Vile," she wrote.
Following her post, Elaine thanked her followers for being so kind and supportive.
She said many of them shared their own personal stories with her and sent her love to those in similar situations to her.
"Thank you for so much love on my story... sharing that I've had a miscarriage is absolutely never something I thought I'd share on my Instagram but I thought it was so important to speak out against small-minded men who think they have a say on women’s bodies and choices.
"So many messages coming through of people in similar positions and I’m so sorry to anyone who has experienced the same, sending love," she added.
Women like Elaine are going to make a major difference by speaking about miscarriage and baby loss.
