The trailer for the TV adaptation of Dolly Alderton's hugely popular memoir Everything I Know About Love has been released.
Taking the books' essays as its inspiration, the BBC show is a semi-fictionalized account of Dolly's own life, that centres upon Maggie (Emma Appleton) and Birdy (Bel Powley), as they settle into adulthood in their first flat-share in London.
Alderton's novel touches upon her experience with a range of issues - from first jobs to relationships to eating disorders - and it's likely that the series will explore these topics as well. Ultimately, as the
BBC Media Centre writes, it will ask if Maggie and Birdy's platonic love can survive romantic love as they grow up?

In the seven-part series, we see Maggie and Birdy navigate the party scene in 2012 in London as young adults, but we also see flashbacks to their childhood, growing up together as school friends.
As the trailer outlines, Birdy finds herself in a relationship while Maggie stays single, and the changing dynamic puts their friendship to the test.
Joining Appleton and Powley in the cast are Marli Siu as Nell, Aliyah Odoffin as Amara, and Connor Finch as Street.
When it was first released, Dolly Alderton's book won the praise of fans and critics alike. It was awarded the National Book Award for Autobiography in 2018, and the following year, it was shortlisted for the 2019 Non-Fiction Narrative Book of the Year in the British Book Awards (Michelle Obama's Becoming took the top prize).
She followed it up with her first novel, Ghosts, which follows a food writer as she navigates the challenges of modern dating.
Everything I Know About Love will be coming to the iPlayer and BBC One on Tuesday, 7 June.
