Katona has been called an inspiration for being so honest about her past.

Kerry Katona has opened up about her late ex-partner George Kay in a harrowing interview on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The mum fought back the tears as she revealed Kay used to abuse her.

She told host Ant Middleton: “My mister died last year of a drug overdose. He was really abusive, and it just took me back to feeling really worthless.”

Katona revealed that her children were somewhat aware of the abuse her ex-partner subjected her to.

“They heard the shouting and saw the black eyes,” she revealed.

Katona eventually left Kay, but she said that relationship changed her family’s lives forever.

“I’ve made so many mistakes and my actions will have consequences on my kids.”

Katona announced her separation from Kay in 2015. She told the police that he assaulted her. He was later charged with assault by beating and possessing a banned weapon, but the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.

Kay died of an overdose on July 5, 2019.

“When George died, [there was] so many mixed emotions. I was so angry. I was so angry at him.

“How f***ing dare you die? Putting me and the kids through all that s***, and then you just die? The worst conversation I’ve ever had to have was with my five-year-old to tell her her daddy had died,” she continued.

This morning, Katona posted about the episode and said: “Dear god!!!! Just watched @sas_whodareswins so I’m going into hiding!!!”

However, her followers praised her for being so open and honest about her past trauma.

Ore Oduba wrote: “You’d better believe that my admiration for you has gone even more through the roof after watching that episode back Kerry.”

“You were amazing. You’re an inspiration,” another added.

One wrote: “You were incredible and real. You should be so proud.”

“Will always have a soft spot for Kerry Katona. She’s been through so much and still remains so happy and positive,” said another.
