Robert De Niro, 80, may be a father to seven, but fatherhood still helps to keep him grounded and grateful.

During an interview with AARP The Magazine, where De Niro was the cover star for the February/March 2024 issue, he opened up on what he loves most about being a father.

The actor welcomed his first child with his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, last April, a daughter named Gia, and has six older children from previous relationships from the ages of 12 to 52.

Speaking to the magazine, De Niro says being a father still ‘feels great’ in his 80s and reflected on the beautiful aspects of being a parent.

“Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about just goes away when I look at her. It’s wondrous.

“When she gets older — who knows? But that very sweet way she has of looking at you, taking you in, thinking and watching and observing.”

The actor welcomed his youngest daughter at the age of 79 but says it’s one job that’s hard no matter what age you are.

On the red carpet at the New York City premiere of his film About My Father, he spoke to Extra about welcoming another baby at this stage of his life.

“I’m okay with it. I’m good with it,” he revealed, adding that raising children “never gets easier”.

The 80-year-old has over 60 years of experience in the acting industry and was recently nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon.
