Vernon Kay has spoken out after announcing the end of his marriage to TV presenter Tess Daly. The couple confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement on Friday evening.
In a joint statement, the pair announced the end of their 22-year marriage, but vowed to remain friends.
"After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.
"This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us.
"We remain great friends and, more importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority.
"There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together.
"We will not be making any further public comments. Tess and Vernon."
Vernon spoke out about the split on his BBC Radio 2 show and thanked the public for the waves of support.
“I just want to say on behalf of myself and Tess, thank you. Thank you for all your well-wishes; it’s been greatly appreciated," he shared.
Vernon Kay and Tess Daly tied the knot in 2003 and share two daughters together. Their daughter Phoebe was born in October 2004, and Amber was born in May 2009.
The news of their split comes after Tess Daly stepped down as the host of Strictly Come Dancing after 21 years.
