WATCH: The trailer for the new American Crime Story has dropped

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Ok, we’re buzzing.

With even more 90s crime coming our way, the trailer the latest season of American Crime Story just dropped.

After the huge success of OJ vs The People and The Assassination of Gianni Versace, the third season is all about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

The trailer dropped last night and shows Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky as she comes face to face with Linda Tripp, played by none other than Sarah Paulson.

With snippets of conversations between the two that Tripp had been recording, the series is set to show the lead up to former President Clinton’s impeachment.

“The president kissed me,” Feldstein whispers. “I’m in love with him.”

Asking when the last time they were together, Tripp adds: “The blue dress…it would be smart to keep that uncleaned in your possession.”

Lewinsky then says: “I promised him that I would not tell anyone,” to which Tripp replies: “He chose to start a relationship with an intern. He’s going to have to resign.”

And just before the screen goes dark, we can hear Lewinsky say: “My life is over.”

The series tells the story of Clinton being impeached by the House of Representatives in December 1998 on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice after he tried covering up his affair with Lewinsky.

The Senate however acquitted him of the charges and he served the remainder of his second term.

Ryan Murphy’s Impeachment will be told from the perspective of Lewinsky, Tripp and Paula Jones, who accused Clinton of sexual harassment which ultimately led to the affair coming to light.

The latest trailer is the first time we’ve gotten to see Sarah Paulson as Tripp, with Annaleigh Ashford as Jones.

The real Monica Lewinsky is one of the producers of the show, which is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.

In an essay for Vanity Fair, Lewinsky once wrote: “There were many, many moments when I questioned not just the decision to participate, but my sanity itself.

“Despite all of the ways I tried to protect my mental health, it was still challenging.”

Impeachment: American Crime Story is set to air on September 7th in the US.
