The world is still reeling after the sudden death of George Michael on Christmas Day, but his fans are ensuring the show goes on.

The Careless Whisper singer, who passed away of suspected heart failure aged just 53, will be celebrated at a 22-hour bash at London’s Tropicana Beach Club in Covent Garden.

More than 2,000 George Michael fans from Britain, Ireland and further afield have already confirmed they will travel to the capital for the free bash, which kicks off at 5pm on Friday and continues until to 2.30pm the next day.

Tropicana Beach Club’s Anthony Knight told the Evening Standard:

“Originally we had planned the event for the Thursday however we’ve had thousands of messages and calls from fans begging us to change it to the weekend so they have time to travel from across the UK to attend the event.”

The event, a charity fundraiser, will present an opportunity for George Michael fans to pay tribute to their hero before he is buried beside beside his mother Lesley in Highgate Cemetery in London later this month.
