Erin McGregor said her son Harry is dealing with sensory pain
Parents have been praising Erin McGregor after she opened up about the tough week she’s been having.
The mum explained that her son Harry has been struggling due to sensory pain.
Erin has often opened up about the realities of having a child with autism, but her honesty has helped so many other parents.
On her Instagram, Erin shared her current reality.
“Here’s a piece of real life. I’ve had a week of it. He’s crying all day because he can’t get rid of that “sensory” pain he’s feeling. It’s something pain meds can’t really help with I’ve noticed on this journey.
“It’s like a pain that hits him deeper, now this is me just trying to understand what he must be feeling. I’m lying on the kitchen floor because he can’t settle anywhere because he is trying to “run” from his pain.’ she wrote.
Erin added: “If I showed you what he looks like in real life I’m not sure you guys would be able and respectful to Harry. I would never show that side of how difficult it really is. But trust me, it’s f*ckin awful to watch your baby like that.”
The mum said her seven-year-old son is losing his baby teeth and the sensory pain has been incredibly difficult for him.
Erin and Harry visited the dentist this week and the mum is hopeful they’re over the worst of it.
Parents praised her for her openness and encouraged her to continue sharing the realities with her followers.
“Well done Harry & Mammy. Social media is great at times like this when we need help,” one said.
“Keep smashing it Erin…. You’re doing great. An advocate for Harry, a source of info for other families around the country,” another wrote.
One shared, “It will help so many Erin, just so glad to hear that Harry is calm and your doing better also.”
