How the family of Clodagh Hawe and her sons are preserving their memory

Clodagh Hawe and her children were murdered a year ago; now their families are fundraising to set up a refuge centre in their memory.

Clodagh and her three sons Liam, 14, Niall, 11, and six-year-old Ryan were killed by her husband and their father, Alan Hawe last August at their family home in Cavan. He afterwards took his own life. Now her mum, Mary Coll, and sister, Jacqueline Connolly, are hoping to set up the Cavan Lighthouse organisation - a refuge for those experiencing domestic violence. According to the iFundraise page, they want to make it a safe place where men, women, and children can turn to in difficult times for advice or a place to stay. A post on the page says:

"Cavan Lighthouse when established will be a family aid refuge in memory of Clodagh, Liam, Niall and Ryan Hawe who were murdered on 29th August 2016. "They touched the lives of so many people. They brought joy and love into our hearts and everyone they met. "Words can not describe how much they are missed everyday."

It continues to explain that they hope the Cavan Lighthouse "will be a safe haven where victims of domestic violence can go in their time of need and avail of much needed professional services to help them through their darkest times".
