Fatal Dublin house fire could have been caused by a candle left beside the TV

Amanda Cassidy

An unimaginable tragedy.

A pregnant woman and three tiny children killed in the house fire at a women’s refuge in Clondalkin, West Dublin this week.

Annemarie O’Brien was seven months pregnant, her daughter Paris, who was just two years old, and little Holly O’Brien (3) died as a result of the overnight blaze.

Four-year-old Jordan O’Brien fought for life in hospital but his little body gave in and he passed away the next day.

Now, reports in the Herald indicate that the fire could have been caused by a candle close to the TV in the living room of the apartment.

Investigations are continuing.

The mum of two of the children who died, Biddy O’Brien is in hospital in critical condition – family are keeping vigil but are optimistic after doctors updated them yesterday.

The funerals of the victims will take place on Monday – all four will share the same funeral at 10 am at St Ann’s Church in Shankill.

The burial will take place at Springfield cemetery in Bray.
