Five secondary schools in Ireland have seen 100% of their students go onto third-level education over the last nine years.

A league table of more than 700 schools was published in the Sunday Independent this weekend.

The study shows the schools that have most consistently sent students on to education in universities and institutes of technology since 2009.

The document also highlighted the schools that have made the biggest improvement in the number of students being put through to third level education.

Five schools in total have maintained a 100% record of doing so in the last nine years, including Presentation Brothers College in Cork, ranked as the best-performing school in the country.

The other schools are Cistercian College in Roscrea in Tipperary and Mount Anville, Coláiste Íosagáin and St. Mary’s in Dublin.

All but one of the five schools – Coláiste Íosagáin – are fee-paying schools.

Elsewhere on the list, Banagher College, Coláiste Na Sionna in Offaly was named as the most improved school in the country.

They sent 100% of students to study at third-level last year compared to just 50% of students in 2009.

The full details of the school league tables are available to view in the print edition of The Sunday Independent.
