“You pay for trust and they completely voided that.”

A two-year-old girl has been left “super traumatised” after she was locked alone in her creche in Florida.

Police in Florida have launched an investigation after her mother discovered her locked inside the childcare facility.

Stephanie Martinez said she found her daughter crying and peeking out of the window of the creche.

The mum arrived at the KinderCare Learning Center at 6.28 pm to find her daughter crying and trapped inside.

She told NBC6: “She was able to push a chair up to the door and call for my name, but that was the only reason I was able to see her.”

The mum said her little girl was crying as well as “super traumatised”.

The mum called emergency services who helped get her daughter out safely.

The little girl was left alone in the room since 6.20 pm, but firefights rescued her just before 7 pm. She was extremely upset after the ordeal, but relieved to be back with her mother.

It is understood that the daycare worker left at 6.20 pm and locked the doors of the creche.

The creche said it is “thankful the child was quickly found and was safe”.

They said the incident never should have happened.

“We take all concerns about children’s safety seriously and follow a specific protocol anytime an issue is raised.

“Part of that protocol includes notifying our agency partners, like state licensing and Child Protective Services, as we did in this case.”

The staff member involved in the incident has been put on administrative leave.

Their agency partners are also investigating the incident.

The mum said no parent should ever have to go through this. She is planning on filing a lawsuit against the Florida daycare centre.

“You pay for trust and they completely voided that. I’m still in shock.”
