Four people killed in separate incidents on Irish roads over St Patrick’s weekend

In the past 24 hours, three serious collisions in which four people lost their lives has occurred on Irish roads.

In the early hours of this morning, two young men were killed in a single car crash in Co Louth.

The two men were pronounced dead on the scene and reported to be in their 20s.

This was followed shortly by another fatal incident involving a motorbike, where a man in Dublin died at 7am.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone in the Tallaght area who might have witnessed the crash.

Yesterday, another tragic incident occurred on roads in the Midlands, when one man died and another 11 people were injured following a five-car incident on the M6 motorway near Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.

The man that died is believed to be in his 60s and from Ashbourne in Co Meath. He was pronounced dead at the scene while 10 people are being treated for injuries of various degrees.

One man is still fighting for his life following a fourth incident in Co Longford yesterday.

The 24-year-old was struck by a car and removed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar with serious injuries.
