Gardaí are continuing to investigate.

A four-year-old child was brought to hospital after an incident in north Dublin over the weekend.

Gardaí attempted to stop a car while patrolling in the Darndale area on Sunday evening.

The car initially stopped but then collided with the Garda vehicle and drove off, Gardaí have said.

It repeatedly failed to stop for other Garda cars as it sped southwards towards the city centre.

It crashed into a garden wall on Church Road in East Wall a short time later.

The driver of the car, a man in his thirties, was arrested after the crash and detained at Coolock Garda Station.

There were two other passengers in the car at the time, a woman in her twenties and a four-year-old boy.

“The boy was taken to the hospital for medical assessment as a precaution,” a Garda spokesperson confirmed.

The Garda car that was rammed is damaged but the two officers inside were unharmed and stayed on duty for the rest of their shift.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the incident, they say.
