Freezing weather and snow promised to hit Ireland again

Alan Loughnane

Great.

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside without a woolly jacket, there’s more talk of snow, ice and freezing temperatures.

The outlook from Met Éireann suggests that we’re going to faced with some more wintry weather this weekend.

While temperatures on Tuesday will be mild and could possibly hit double figures at times, it’s not going to last according to the national forecaster.

Temperatures will fall on Tuesday night reaching lows of -3 degrees in places, with widespread frost and coldest in the east and the midlands.

Wednesday will be dry and bright with highest temperatures of 7-9 degrees.

While Thursday and Friday will be cloudier with some chances of rain, the weekend looks set to take a dip in temperatures.

Met Éireann have said that details of further outlook remains uncertain and will be monitored for detail.

At the moment it looks like it will be a cold regime with easterly winds, temperatures below freezing at night and the risk of snow showers along the east and south coast, but mainly dry elsewhere.
