Friends of the woman who was murdered in her Louth home are trying to reunite her with family in Poland.

Elzbieta Piotrowska, Ela to her friends, was brutally murdered in her home in Ardee on Tuesday, January 8.

Friends and family of the 57-year-old are hoping to organise repatriation for Ela so she can be reunited with her family in Poland.

They have set up a GoFundMe page to raise the money necessary to bring their friend home.

“We’re devastated to say that last week our friend was tragically killed in Ardee,” they said. “Her husband urgently needs to reunite her with her family in Poland. Her family and friends are asking for any help.”

Ela’s body was discovered in her Ardee home last Tuesday morning. She had suffered brutal injuries after being attacked with an axe.

Tomasz Piotrowski was charged with the murder soon after. The 32-year-old, who also lived in Ardee, was arrested in connection with the death last Tuesday.

He had fled the scene following the attack and was eventually arrested at another location.

Piotrowska’s husband was in work at the time of the attack. Her daughter was in Poland.
