The future of Strictly Come Dancing is in doubt for one specific reason

We'd be wary too.

We’d be wary too.

The future of Strictly Come Dancing is up in the air as the show is failing to recruit enough celebrities to take part. While it will always be popular with viewers at home, if they don’t get the right caliber of celebrities it will soon lose its appeal.

The general reason why celebrities are saying no is down to the Strictly Curse, which has caused far too many couples to split throughout the years.

Most recently they apparently approached Jamie Redknapp, according to The Sun. There’s no surprise why he said no given the break down of his marriage to Louise following the show.

She wasn’t hit by the curse in the traditional sense but developed a new hunger for the limelight after appearing on the show which led to their divorce.

Other stars who have been approached, but have said no, are actor Martin Kemp, Corrie star Alison King, Blue’s Lee Ryan, EastEnders actress Lacey Turner, Countdown host Nick Hewer, ex-GBBO host Mel Giedroyc and Martine McCutcheon.

And, our very own Angela Scanlon was asked to take part but turned it down.

A source said:

“Strictly used to be show that no celebrity ever turned down. But the curse has changed all that.

There is now a genuine concern that appearing on the show can negatively impact relationships.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if someone is brave enough to take it on.
