Body found during search for missing 82-year-old woman

Helen Owens went missing on Monday.

Gardaí in Wicklow have found a body during the search for the missing 82-year-old Helen Owens.

The search for the missing woman has now been stood down.

Gardaí confirmed the harrowing news last night.

It is believed her body was discovered on the shore, south of Wicklow town.

Gardaí thanked the public and the media for their assistance during the search.

“Following the recovery of a body on the shore, south of Wicklow town, Co. Wicklow this afternoon Tuesday 15th February 2022 the missing person appeal in respect of Helen Owens, 82 years, has been stood down.

“An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter.”

Helen Owens went missing on Monday, February 14th. She was last seen at around 4 pm.

She was missing from her home in Killoughter in Ashford, Co. Wicklow.

An urgent public appeal was issued yesterday. Both the public and local people assisted with the search.

A local business paid tribute to Helen after her body was found.

“Thank you so much everyone for sharing Helen Owens’s details. Sadly the search is over as Helen’s body was recovered by the sea in Wicklow. Sending love and strength to her family at this very tough time. May she rest in peace.”
