Gardai investigate man who entered the hotel room of Tipperary schoolgirls

Melissa Carton

Gardai are currently investigating a man who entered the hotel room of young school girls during the Ploughing Championships.

The girls from St Mary’s College in Nenagh, Co Tipperary were attending the event on school work experience when the incident occurred.

The man in question made his way into a hotel room of a number of underage girls at a hotel just outside of Moate in Westmeath.

The incident occurred at 1 am on Wednesday and the young girls contacted authorities immediately once they realised that there was an intruder in their room.

It is currently unknown as to how the man was able to enter the room of the schoolgirls or why.

According to TheJournal, the board of management of St.Mary’s College are to meet later this week to discuss what happened.

As a parent, it’s extremely frightening to think that a stranger could enter the hotel room of my child if they should go on a trip away with school and I would imagine it was a very scary experience for the teenage girls involved and their parents.

Thankfully none of the girls were harmed and hopefully, it will turn out to just be a case of accidentally entering the wrong room.
