Gardaí investigating the discovery of a newborn baby in a Dublin industrial estate are expected to hold a press conference this morning.
The baby girl is in a stable condition, having been found wrapped in a plastic bag near a business on the Steelstown Road in Rathcoole by a couple on Friday. She is being cared for in the Coombe hospital.
Investigating officers have appealed for the child’s mother to come forward and are expected to put a number of items found near the child, including a black bag and a towel, on display in an effort to get to the bottom of the mystery.
Superintendent Brendan Connolly of Clondalkin Garda station said: “Gardaí are concerned for the welfare of the mother of this child and are appealing for her to seek immediate medical treatment and to contact Gardaí who are anxious to reunite her with her baby”.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Gardaí at Clondalkin on 01 6667600.
