A huge garda alert is in place.

Gardaí have urged the public to look out for a car that was stolen with a baby girl inside.

Just before 2 pm on Monday afternoon, the baby’s mother was standing outside her car in the Gardiner Street area of the city when a man hijacked the vehicle with a baby in the back seat.

The car is a silver Nissan Qashqai with a 10 D 21328 number plate. It is understood to have a dog cage visible from the back window.

The car took off onto Dorset Street. It’s been reported that the suspect was wearing a baseball cap and dark clothing.

The baby has since been identified as Daisy Hall, who is five months old.

A garda spokesperson said:

“An Garda Síochána urgently requests public assistance in locating a missing vehicle, Silver Nissan Qashqai Hatchback, registration number 10-D-21328.

“This vehicle was last seen in the Mountjoy Square area of Dublin City Centre at approximately 1:50pm this afternoon.

“Members of the public with any information are asked not to approach the vehicle but to report any information or sighting by calling 999/112.”
