Geoffrey Hayes host of popular children’s TV show ‘Rainbow’ passes away age 76

The host of the popular TV show has passed away today age 76.

The TV personality that presented Rainbow from 1973 to 1992 succumbed to pneumonia earlier today.

According to The Mirror, his manager Phil Dale released this statement;

“It is with great sadness that the family announce that Geoffrey passed away in hospital with his wife, Sarah, and son, Tom, by his side.

The family would like to express their thanks to the many fans over the years as it always gave Geoffrey so much pleasure to know that he and his Rainbow team had given so much fun to TV and theatre audiences over the years.

There will be no further comment at the moment and it would be appreciated if the privacy of Geoffrey’s family is respected at this most difficult time.”

There has already been a huge outpouring of grief from fans of the children’s TV presenter with one fan writing

“RIP Geoffrey Hayes of ITV show Rainbow. Another part of my childhood gone.”

There is no doubt that Hayes will be greatly missed by many as his career spanned across several decades and for the many generations of children who grew up watching Rainbow he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
