Great news for Irish parents as bouncy castle operators secure insurance once again

Laura Cunningham

“The long, hard and sometimes frustrating journey”

Last summer, we reported that parents were being advised to hire bouncy castles “at their own risk”, because Irish operators couldn’t secure public liability insurance.

However, good news for businesses and parents alike was announced today, as Independent.ie reports that bouncy castle operators have secured insurance as part of a group scheme.

The issue, which was created by UK businesses leaving the market post-Brexit, understandably created a lack of availability, particularly at times when demand was high due to communion, confirmation celebrations and outdoor summer birthday parties.

Bouncy castle operators who decided to operate without insurance described it as a “huge financial gamble”, but today the Irish Inflatable Hirers Federation (IIHF) said: “The long, hard and sometimes frustrating journey to get public liability insurance for the inflatable industry in the Republic of Ireland has come to an end with a very positive result.

“Arachas insurance brokers have put a dedicated team together and will begin contacting operators today.”
