Met Éireann has revealed that there will be rain across the whole country, with risk of hail and thunder.
Showers over Ulster early this morning clearing to the northeast. Dry in many areas with sunny spells. Heavy showers in the west will spread eastwards through the late morning & will become widespread during the afternoon. Some may be thundery. The weather forecaster said: “A mix of sunny spells and showers today. The showers most frequent in the west at first but they will become more widespread through the course of the afternoon and evening. Some of the showers turning to longer spells of rain with the risk of hail and thunder.
“Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees. Southerly winds mostly moderate in strength but increasing fresh and gusty in and around showers and strong at times along coasts.”
Heavy or prolonged showers over Lein will move up over Ulst early this a.m., scattered showers in west Muns & Conn. Some sunny spells this morning. And for tonight: “Showers will continue to occur tonight. The showers most frequent in southern and western areas with the continued risk of the odd heavy and thundery one.
“The best of the clear spells further east where a few mist patches may form. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees with moderate southerly breezes but fresh at times along coasts.”
