Adam’s family said that he will “treasure the award forever”.

On her last day in office as the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Hazel Chu gave Late, Late Toy Show star Adam King a prestigious award.

Five year-old Adam won audiences over last Christmas when he spoke about his experience with brittle bone disease, virtual hugs and his desire to work as a CAPCOM in the field of space exploration.

Yesterday, he was the proud recipient of the Lord Mayor Youth Award, and Ms Chu welcomed him into the Mansion House to receive the honour.

Chu shared a picture of them together on Twitter and congratulated him in her caption.

“It was such a pleasure to welcome @AdamKingIRL and his family to the @MansionHouseDub this afternoon to present him with his Lord Mayor Youth Award.

“Such an inspirational kid – thank you Adam for taking the time to visit me on my last day!”

Through their social media account, Adam’s family said that it was “such an honour” to meet the Lord Mayor.

“Thank you for welcoming the entire family to @MansionHouseDub,” they wrote. “It was wonderful! Adam and our family will treasure the award forever. Hugs.”

Since his appearance on the Late, Late Toy Show, Adam has had quite a busy few months. Several weeks ago, it was revealed that Adam and his father David are working on a children’s book. A Hug For You will be published by Penguin Sandycove, and will tell the story of the virtual hug.

Additionally, the five year-old is all set to star in his own animated series titled Adam ❤ Adventure!

The programme, which will be a pre-school animated comedy series will follow our hero as he steps into his dream job of CAPCOM to help aliens solve problems around the universe.

Best of luck Adam, we can’t wait to follow your adventure!
