Woman’s plea for help naming her baby who will not survive until brith

A devastated woman has turned to the internet and asked for help naming her unborn child.

She explained that she is 17 weeks pregnant, but was told that her and her husband's little boy or girl would not survive until full term. The Mumsnet user, who lives in France, told how she is hopeful for her unborn child to make it to 22 weeks so they have a right to a birth certificate. And as her husband is not able to talk about it, she turned to the parenting forum to ask for help from strangers to find the perfect name. She explained in her post that she has a few names in mind, but none have stuck out to her as "the" name. She wrote:

"Sorry about a depressing thread in what should be a joyous topic. "I am 17 weeks pregnant and my baby will not make it to birth. My only hope is that he/she will make it to 22 weeks, which would give him or her the right to have a birth certificate here in France. "DH does not really want to talk about it. "For a girl, I like Evangeline (bearer of good news) and Theodora (gift from God). I like Joseph for a boy. "No name has struck me so far as "the" name - it all seems too early but we will have to make a choice soon."

She was soon flooded with messages of support as well as name suggestions for her little one. One person said:

"I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through this. You sound incredibly brave. "I quite like Zeke (short for Ezekiel - name of old Testament prophet and means ‘God strengthens’. "I also really really like Phoenix."

Someone else added:

"We named our daughter Madeleine from Magdalena/ Magdala meaning elevated, magnificent. It's been over 6 years. Time heals and life offers happiness and blessings to fill the void of such a loss. But your child becomes a part of your family's tapestry. "That pain you feel now becomes a bittersweet comfort over time. "I am so sorry that you are facing such sadness. I am sure you will choose a fitting and meaningful name. Theodora is beautiful. Miriam is another name with meaning: 'a wished for child'."

Another person posted:

"The names you have chosen are beautiful. For a boy I lean towards Adam. I feel you will just know . Wish you a lot of happiness for the future"
