Helmets recalled in Ireland due to risk of injury after 121 sold

Decathlon Sports Limited Ireland has announced an urgent recall of two models of its Rockrider helmets: the MTB HELMET EXPL500 and the MTB HELMET ST500. 

The recall follows the discovery of a defect that poses a significant risk of injury.

A fault has been identified in the plastic component at the back of the helmet, which secures the chinstrap. 

This defect may compromise the helmet’s ability to remain securely fastened, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a fall.

The affected helmets are part of the Rockrider brand and cover two specific models: the MTB HELMET EXPL500 and the MTB HELMET ST500. 

The type/number of model is MTB HELMET EXPL500 / ST500. The following batch codes are affected:

  • 4243712 – MTB HELMET ST 500 TURQUOISE S
  • 2940783 – MTB HELMET ST 500 TURQUOISE M

  • 5034307 – MTB HELMET EXPL 500 PASTEL BLUE M
  • 5034323 – MTB HELMET EXPL 500 FOREST GREEN M
  • 4229390 – MTB HELMET ST 500 ALL SEASONS L
  • 4229391 – MTB HELMET ST 500 ALL SEASONS M

According to Decathlon, approximately 121 units of the faulty helmets were sold in the Republic of Ireland between July 2nd, 2024 and September 9th, 2024.

Customers who have bought these helmets are advised to stop using them immediately. 

To check if your helmet is part of the recall, visit the official recall website provided by Decathlon.

Those who have an affected helmet can return it to their nearest Decathlon store for a full refund.
