“You’re about to fall in love.”

When it comes to Irish literature, Normal People by Sally Rooney is one of the biggest success stories in recent memory.

The book was nominated for the Man Booker Prize in 2018, while it was also voted as the 2018 Waterstones’ Book of the Year and it won Best Novel at the 2018 Costa Book Awards.

To put it bluntly, people absolutely loved it.

So much so that a television adaptation of the show was ordered by the BBC and now we’ve finally got ourselves a trailer.

The show stars Daisy Edgar Jones as Marianne and Paul Mescal as Connell.

It has been revealed that Normal People will be available on BBC Three “soon” but no exact release date has yet been announced.

Rooney spoke to Vanity Fair about the creation of the show, saying:

“My favourite scenes from the book generally took the form of conversations between the two protagonists—in abandoned houses, in apartment kitchens, in cars, and in bed.

“I’m excited to see those dynamics beginning to unfold in a new way on the screen.”
