Kate and Wills will miss Prince Charles’ birthday for an important reason

Cathy Donohue

Prince Charles’ birthday is this Wednesday, 14 November and it’s a big one as he’s turning 70.

There have been a number of events in the run-up to his actual birthday but the big day itself is being marked with a big celebration at Buckingham Palace.

However, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in attendance, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are going to miss this one.

Kate and William are due to attend an official engagement in Barnsley at a Centrepoint hostel that provides emergency accommodation for young adults and teenagers in need.

Princess Diana was a patron of this charity previously and so it stands to reason that it would be a cause very close to Prince William’s heart.

He became a patron of the charity in 2015 and has previously spoken about how it is a “selfless service” and the first charity he ever wanted to work with.

A spokesperson for the Kensington Palace commented on the clash in schedules and said that it’s a working day as usual for Kate and William so unfortunately, they will miss Prince Charles’ birthday celebration.

A statement obtained by The Sun says:

“As a normal working day the Duke and Duchess have official engagements during the daytime visiting important projects in South Yorkshire.

‘These were of course cleared with Clarence House to make sure they didn’t clash with any birthday celebrations”.

We’re sure they will have their own private family celebration aside from the big bash at the palace too.
